One morning when Trace was busy eating breakfast while watching TV. Pagkasubong pagkasubo niya ng masarap at mainit-init na ramen noodles,

Trace: Mommy, bakit pangit si Ate Nikki?

Sobrang tawang tawa ako. Out of nowhere eh. May something kaya sa ramen noodles na nag-remind sa kanya sa Ate Nikki niya?

Saan galing ‘yun, Trace? Buti na lang nasa school ang mga ate mo that time.

One morning when Trace was taking a shower,

Mommy: Halika, Trace, lapit ka kay Mommy. Linisin ko ang titot mo. Madumi yata e.

Lumapit naman siya. As he watched me wash his titot,

Trace: Shape ng titot ko, hexagon. Kita mo, Mommy?

Hexagon? Hexagon talaga, Trace? Ano ka alien?!

Cray Cray Carrillos: Fighting Dogs

One afternoon when the Carrillo siblings and I were taking a walk around the subdivision, there were 3 dogs on the street, 2 of them, I’d say, were supposed to get a room. By the way, napansin ko lang, bakit ‘pag may 2 asong nagse-sex sa kalsada, parating may audience silang isa pang aso. Hindi niyo ba napapansin? Pansinin niyo ‘pag may chance kayo. Haha!

Going back.

Mommy: Trace, tignan mo ‘yung dogs oh, kambal sila. Magkadikit ang puwet nila. 

Nikki’s already 12, she knows. Medyo natagalan bago naka-comment si Calli.

Calli: Ah, Mommy, magkakampi sila. Kaaway nila ‘yung isang dog. 

Sobrang natawa kami ni Nikki. 

Trace: Power rangers sila, Mommy.

Mommy: Ahh, nag-volt in pala silang dalawa kasi kaaway nila ‘yung isa.

Then Nikki and I continued to laugh so hard as we walked away from the “fighting” dogs. 

Ah, kids. So young and innocent.

Overwhelming Presents

Summer is here!!!

And so are Ate Pla and her family!!! Hooray!

Ate Pla is Elmer's elder and only sister, sort of (don't ask me to elaborate on that please). She left for the US in 2008 and this year is the first time she's coming back since. This time, she now has a husband and two cute kiddos, Haeven and Neveah. They, of course, are Nikki, Calli and Trace's cousins. And of course, it's their first time to meet each other. They're only staying for two weeks. Very short stay for being gone for five years, you might say. So they have to make the most out of it.

 

They have lots and lots and lots and lots of pasalubong for my family especially to Elmer and my kids - shoes and clothes and toys and chocolates and more shoes and more clothes and more toys and more chocolates. Ako ang na-overwhelm nang tunay!

 

These are just a few of her pasalubong for the kids. 

 

These pairs of shoes are just some of them. There's a whole lot more that I didn't take photos of. Like I said in my Facebook post, I will definitely need more shoe racks for these. As in more na more.

How are you mga 'teh?

 

Whenever I say "'teh", I remember our van driver in Puerto Princesa when we went there. Anlaking tao pero tume-teh siya! Haha! But I forgot his name na.

 

Going back. Nikki and Calli's school required them to attend like a Sunday school one (of course) Sunday before closing of classes. Pre-school students were required to come in "Sunday" clothes. I honestly don't know what's the definition of "Sunday" clothes kasi 'pag Sunday naka-pambahay lang naman ako. #true My family doesn't go to church to hear the mass. I know, I'm such a... But please don't judge me and my family. Haha!

 

Going back again. Ever since she received this dress she's wearing in the video below from great-grandma Martha, she hasn't worn it until that Sunday. I thought she was overdressed. Who would go to church to hear the mass in a dress like that. Ada pay siling-siling na, Apo! (There are even glitters, my God!) Oha, my translation pa. Ang tanong, tama ba ang pagka-translate. Pero close, something like dutch.

 

Going back again. She insisted on wearing that dress. Okay, fine. I let her try it because it looked to me like maliit na for her. When she did, sakto na lang. Mabuti na lang she got to wear it pa.

 

We had a dress-slash-song rehearsal.

For The Nth Time

May blog nga pala ako. Haha!

How are all of you?! I know, I know. I was gone (again) for so long. A lot of things happened here and there...and everywhere. ^_^ I missed a lot, I know.

I don't know now how and where to start (again). Let me try.

I have a couple of things in my Drafts. Like this one that's dated 11/17/2013 --

Half Year

Yay! Trace is 6 months old today!

 

Where have all those six months gone? They've gone so fast. Whenever I do some organizing of his clothes in the cabinet, I'd always find at least a piece that doesn't fit him anymore. Some of them, never niyang nasuot even once. No worries kasi most of his clothes, or shall I say all of his clothes, are hand-me-downs from Elmer's nephew Haeven and my cousins Rhys and Rahl. Some others were Nikki's and Calli's pa. I don't think may binili ako or si Elmer na damit for Trace. So hindi nakakasama ng loob na hindi niya nasuot 'yung mga iba.

Trace is turning 10 months on March 17. And he looks nothing different from the photos above. He just has more hair, is much taller, much stronger and is still gwapo. ^_^

 

I will post a photo of him on my next post. Pwamis!

 

I always ask this when I look at my kids, "Where have the times gone?" Ambilis kasi!

Do you guys watch the series The Walking Dead? I am an addict, and I am proud. ^_^

The Walking Dead Season 4

When my notebook got broken late last year, I never bothered getting it fixed until I was about to give birth in May. I could use it while I was in maternity leave. I thought I would still have that much time to spend on the computer like when I was still pregnant. I thought wrong. May baby na nga pala. I have to say babies are the most demanding bosses. My ged!

 

Ang result, the notebook sat on one corner and gathered dust until last month. I thought of a good use for it. Because I didn't, and still don't, have internet connection at home, the best use for it is for watching movies or videos. I wanted to start watching a TV series again. As far as I can remember, there are only two TV series that I religiously watched from the their first seasons up to their last  - Prison Break and Desperate Housewives. I also watched Grey's Anatomy, got bored at Season 5. I also started with Modern Family, stopped at Season 3.

I heard about The Walking

Ayan, hanggang mahabang intro na lang ako. Hindi ko na natuloy at nai-post. Season 4 is three episodes away to its end. I will definitely miss this. I'll have to start a new series while waiting for Season 5. Any suggestions?

Then I have one more in my Drafts titled Trace's First Solid Food. It only has this photo collage Trace and his first solid food I prepared for him. Effort ako mga 'teh but I didn't get the chance to post it naman. :(

That's it. Nothing after 11/19/2013.

I have been very busy, promise. Since my team has been assigned with a new task, wala na. That's when the (again) hiatus started. But couple of days ago, I saw the light. So I followed it. Haha!

I'm hoping (again) to stick around for long(er) this time. ^_^

Expect The Unexpected

 Yes, that's what some people say. But aren't unexpected things those that are mostly unpleasant?

To me, this blog serves as an outlet, sort of. But for almost two months, I disconnected myself from it. I never peeked into this blog nor checked anyemail notification for comments. (I found out today that there were still visits from people. Thank you!) Although, I didnt totally go offline. I wouldstill check Facebook and Twitter once in a while, blogwalk a bit only to check new photos but not to read stuff.

After our Palawan trip, I had a very depressing discovery. It was very depressing at that moment. Iyak ako nang iyak. Because I didn't want to think about it, tulog ako nang tulog every afternoon after my shift. I put all the blame on Elmer. I wasn't talking to him that much. My spirits were really, really, really low. As in.

I Just Realized, It's A Case Of Bullying

Elmer and I noticed, Nikki was, although not intensely, being bullied in school by one girl classmate. This never happened last year when she was in Grade 2. That was her first year in that school and she was never with this girl in the same class.

This classmate's name always comes up during my conversation Nikki on how her day at school went. Sometimes, especially when school year was just starting, her stories were not as pleasant as I would like them to be. There was one time daw during lunch, 'yung mga ayaw na food ng classmate niya na 'to who likes to boss her around too, nilalagay sa baunan niya. That's while she was still eating her lunch. Foul 'yan sa akin. Pero sabi ko, sana sinabihan niya ang classmate niya na 'wag gawin 'yun. Oo daw. There was another time when this same classmate had colds and used tissue paper to clean her nose. When all her used tissue already piled up on her desk, inuutusan daw sila (her and her other classmates) to clean her desk up. Foul sa akin 'yan. I asked her if ginawa ba niya. Hindi naman daw. 

But Nikki admitted, sometimes, she would give in as a way para makisama with that classmate. Otherwise, that classmate would ask their other classmates to not talk to or play with her. Ang bad! Naawa ako kay Nikki nun. Sabi ko, if she doesn't stand up, susugurin ko ang classmate niya! Siyempre joke lang 'yun, at alam niya 'yun. I encouraged her to fight (not physically) or answer back if she knows tama siya.

Once in a while, I check new apps and games at Google Play Store. My recent find is this Photo Studio by PicsArt. I had already tried a couple of photo editing and photo community apps and I think this one is by far the best. It's easy to use and not to mention, FREE!

 

Although it has not reached Instagram's popularity just yet, I think it will not take long before that happens because of all the many things you can do with your photos with it. It has various options to choose from to edit or enhance your photos - masks, collage, frames, borders, stickers,  text effect, clipart graphics, callouts, crop, rotate, color adjust and so much more!

Goodbye Frizz

Here in Baguio, I do not have a "suki" salon. Before, I would only get a haircut every time I was in Nueva Ecija. There was one salon there na 'pag magpapagupit ako, papasok lang at sasabihin. "Parang dati po." 'Yun na. Gets na niya ang gupit na gusto ko at swak naman sa akin. 

But after a hair rebond and hair got longer, I had to cut it na. I never had a long hair talaga. Hindi kasi bagay sa akin. It has become inconvenient for me to go down to Nueva Ecija every time I would like to get a haircut. I've already tried having a haircut in a couple of salons here in Baguio. I would say, I'm still in my search for a "suki" salon. 

Have you seen my photo here? Okay, ginawan ko na ng paraan 'yan. My friends Joy and Karen were also in the mood for a haircut. Because my hair looked like it badly needed some trimming, I joined them. 

We headed to Domingo Cabato Jr. Salon, a small salon in General Luna. Yes, mhin na mhin ang name. Joy knows Dom. 

These were the "after" shots. Sana daw may "before" shots. Sabi ko, 'di na kelangan. ^_^

A Surprisingly Luscious Leche Flan

Mona sold me one tray of fresh eggs last week. I thought, what would I do with a tray of eggs? Elmer told me to just put some in the fridge and stock the rest in the cupboard. Okay, they won't be staying in there long enough to rot anyway.

But still, I was itching to do something with them. I thought, leche flan! I love leche flan. Like super love. Carl would call it cream caramel. Leche flan, cream caramel. Isu met lang! ^_^

So on Tuesday, after taking a walk around Cudirao with my girls, leche flan it was! I know this is not the first time you'll ever see a recipe for a leche flan. 'La lang. Gusto ko lang i-share nang may ma-blog naman ako. Haha!

Kaya heto na!

Ingredients:

• 5 eggs yolks
• Half (or a little more than half) of the small can of condensed milk (See photo below)
• Half (or a little more than half ) of the big can of evaporated milk (See photo below)
• 3 tablespoonfuls of sugar

*There's supposed to be 1 teaspoon vanilla extract on the list but it was not available at that time.

If All The Raindrops Were Lemon Drops and Gum Drops

It's been raining cats and dogs every afternoon. Tag-ulan na talaga! I'm okay with rains, but please, no typhoons. First, they're disastrous. Good thing, my family does not live in an area here in Baguio na luma-landslide or binabaha. I pity those who do. Those who suffer from landslide or flooding. Oh well, some of them naman kasi matitigas ang ulo. They ignore warnings from the government. Sorry, I digressed a bit. Going back. Second, ang hirap kaya pumasok sa work! Pagdating sa work, "Basang Basa Sa Ulan" by Aegis ang theme song mo for the day. Sure 'yan.

Okay, I'm not talking about typhoons and calamities any further. Since we moved in our new house, Calli has again found all her Barney CDs and started playing them. Oh yes, she now knows how to push what buttons on our DVD player and the Video button on our TV. We didn't know that before because in the old house, we had placed our DVD player on top of our TV. Now, it's on the shelf underneath the TV that she can reach. Gawd! She's only 2 years old. How could she learn that fast? Now, the problem that brings is that we need another TV for the rest of us. Inangkin na niya ang TV e.

She was watching Barney one time and I'm sure I've already heard this song before (Ikaw ba naman ang may anak na walang kasawaan kay Barney) but that one time was the first time I paid attention to the lyrics. Bagay na bagay ngayong tag-ulan. Just the first part of the song lyrics only, kasi the following part is pang-winter. And the last part, ay pwedeng pwede din naman. Nakaka-LSS! ^_^

One Phat Crib

After a year and one month of living in a small apartment in Liwanag Loakan, my family has found a better place to live here in Cudirao Loakan. Thanks to my friend Mona and her husband Carl for helping us find this apartment. Actually, their apartment is just right next to ours. We're now neighbors, and I. Love. It!

I love our new house. Aside from its location, the neighborhood gives me a feeling of security. The lot has a very huge, fenced and gated space, that's really hard to find nowadays here in Baguio, making it really safe for the kids to play around. And I tell you, there are a lot of kids around here. Nikki and Calli have so many playmates here. Matutupad na ang promise ni Daddy sa kanya na bilhan siya ng bike.

We would have moved here last month but for some reason, that didn't happen until this month. It was worth the wait. My landlady is so bait, and from the looks of how she's treating us, I can tell she's a very reasonable and considerate person. If nothing major happens, I can see my family staying here for a long time or until we finally acquire "that" house.

This house is nothing like a mansion or anything grandiose. It's just a, maybe for many, small apartment but just enough or a little more than enough space for my family and our things to be living in. If you have lived in our old house then you would appreciate this new one superbly like I do now. The only thing with this house is, it doesn't have any furniture at all. No beds, no chairs, no dining table. Elmer and I feel like starting all over again. But Elmer told me not to worry and assured me that everything's gonna be fine. I trust him. And that's exactly what I need - some comforting words.

When It Rains, It Pours

How are you guys? It's been days since my last post. I've been so busy. Oh so busy. I think I have yet to share to you that last week, I had to bring Calli to Elmer's mom in Pangasinan because no one would stay with her in the house while Elmer and I are at work and Nikki is at school. So there. Calli is with her Mama Shirley in Pangasinan and not living with us right now. Ang sad ng house. 

Speaking of house, my family has finally moved into the new house that we were supposed to have moved into a month ago. Yes, fi-na-lly! It was a good timing na din that I had to bring Calli to Pangasinan on Saturday because we were able to move here in our new house on Tuesday. Kasi naman for sure, mahihirapan kami maglipat-bahay with Calli with us nang walang yaya. Extreme pagod ang labas namin ni Elmer, especially ko, in case.

Speaking of yaya naman, I found a new yaya for Calli. (Thank you, Lord!) And I can't thank my workmate enough who found this yaya for me. (Thank you Melanie Sido. You're the best!) Well, truth is, it was her niece's yaya who looked for a new yaya for Mel who was looking for a new yaya for me. My new yaya's name is Pinky De Leon. (Yeah, I know. Very celebrity ang name niya, right?) She started working for me yesterday although Calli's still not here. Calli's coming back on Sunday. Yipee!

Okay going back to Pinky, I have a very good feeling about her. It's such a small world. She's Elmer's kababayan from San Manuel, Pangasinan. When Elmer and she finally met in the afternoon, they started chatting and tracing common people they know. That added to my feeling good and comfortable about her. Not to mention, she also is a mother, a single mother that is, to her 6-year-old daughter who she left with her parents in Pangasinan. Now, I have gained again a bit of peace of mind and a little time to rest. I have been so tired and stressed this past week. I can't tell you how tired my body and mind had been because of having no yaya and to bring my daughter somewhere so she can be taken care of while her parents are at work, moving into a new house and of course, forever work.

Speaking of work, Elmer has resigned from his current job. It was his last day as Equipment Engineer yesterday. But wait, there's more! He resigned because he's got himself a better job. Better job means higher pay, more perks, and irresistible benefits. Woot, woot! He thought he could take at least a week break from work before starting his new job but (un)fortunately, he's started training today as Field Service Engineer also in Texas Instruments.

I can't stop sighing as I write all these. Sighs of relief. I feel a little relieved now although still sad because Calli's not yet with us. Elmer and I give her Mama a ring every now and then to hear Calli's voice. She has gotten more daldal na talaga. Just like last night.

Daddy: Sino mga kalaro mo diyan?

Calli: Takbo ako nang takbo. Hindi ako nadadapa Daddeeeh!

Daddy: Saan ka tumatakbo? Sa kalsada?

Calli: Sa SM! 

Sushal! Tatakbo lang, kelangan sa SM pa talaga? ^_^ 

Daddy passed the phone to me.

Me: Hello Mahal! Kumusta ka na? Kelan ka aakyat dito?

Calli: Dito muna ako kay Mama. Papatabain pa daw muna niya ako Mommeeeh.

Me: Wawa naman kami dito. Wala kaming Calli. I miss you Calli. I love you Calli.

Calli: I love you (Pauses a bit), Daddeeeh! (Then leaves the line)

Waaah! Mommy ako! :(

It is so nice and makes me miss her more hearing her voice on the phone. Parang ang laki laki na niya when she talks on the phone. Very daldal! She's turning 3 years old on July 27. 

God really is sooo good. I can't thank Him enough and the supportive people around me. Alam niyo na kung sinu-sino kayo. Alabyu guys!

One Helluva Busy Week: With Imangi Studios Temple Run + Star Papers Balikbayan Boxes + Nikki's First Day In Grade 3 + Unexpected Guests

My friend Apol asked, "Mina, bakit ang tahimik ng blog mo?" to which I responded, "Tinatamad kasi ako." Please forgive me, dearies. I know. Laziness hit me last week and then again this week...sort of. But I will not blame it all on my laziness. I was so busy. I thought I would need another me. Let me tell you what I had been busy with. 

Work and Temple Run

First and foremost, work. Then second, Temple Run. I was so hooked with it...again. I challenged myself that I would never write a new post until I collected 2,500 coins in Temple Run on my phone. (Ahuh! You guessed right. I made it!) I have already done that on Elmer's phone. It was easy doing that on his. But I wanted that record on mine and it was hard. The game keeps on lagging on my phone. Argh! When I thought that I already jumped or made a turn on time, I didn't pala. Eksaherada lang sa pag-lag! But I never gave up. Competetive ako e. Charot!

Hallelujah, I'm Still Alive

How are you my dearies? I know, I know. I suffered from writer's block. (Wow, writer lang talaga?) I have not posted anything since that post I had about the AI 11 finale. Because I was so much disheartened by its result. Charot!

Kidding aside, I felt like nothing interesting worth sharing to you guys happened to me these past couple of days. Reading all your new posts about your summer escapades, new gadgets, new outfits, collectible items, family gatherings, etc. made me feel that my life was sooo boring. Arte lang, pero there's a teeny weeny truth to it with konting inggit factor. So with this new post, does that mean there's anything worth sharing here? You tell me. ^_^

Let me do a li'l recap. What did I do these past couple of days? Lemme think. Hmmm. The usual. Work-home routine. Then there was my two days off. I didn't go out. I didn't accomplish anything productive during those two days. I don't wanna elaborate on that. Maiinis lang na naman ako. Then there was my feeling guilty about Calli and I not having any bonding activity last week so we went out to the mall and played again in Playmates. Then there was Elmer and I doing some de-cluttering and a lot of packing in the house. We are moving to another house soon. Very soon. Then there was the payday. Then I had my hair cut. Reading those back, I guess, there were things naman that were worth sharing pero tinamad lang ako. Yes, that's the keyword. Tinamad lang talaga ako. 

The Ultimate Cam Whores In The House

Aside from singing along YouTube videos like this one that I posted, Calli and I also love cam-whoring during lazy afternoons. Like what we did one afternoon not long time ago. 

Calli enjoyed my making faces. I said "Ayoko na." but she insisted that I made some more. And she laughed at me every single time. Okay, ako na ang clown b*atch niya. 

She simply loves the camera. I wonder if she has a future in acting or modelling or photography or whatever that has something to do with cameras. I have yet to find out.

An Open Letter To Muder, A Mother's Day Greeting

This world will never be the same without all the selfless, caring, compassionate, considerate, dependable, loving, smart and beautiful mommies in it. Mabuhay ang mga ina sa buong mundo!

Motherhood Is A Blessing

Mother's Day is a day to honor mothers, celebrate motherhood and maternal bonds, and acknowledge the influence and role of mothers in society. Mother's Day here in the Philippines is celebrated every second Sunday of May. (That's this coming Sunday. Yay!!!) Filipinos consider mothers as the Light of the Household (Ilaw ng Tahanan). Traditional Filipino families usually celebrate Mother's Day by treating mothers to lunch or dinner out, letting mothers go on a shopping spree, seeing a movie with mothers, giving mothers some time for self-pampering, creating handcrafted tokens such as greeting cards or just simply letting mothers take a day off of household chores that they routinely do.

Today, I mailed a Mother's Day greeting card addressed to my Muder in Nueva Ecija. With the trend these days and all the ease and convenience of communication through texts and emails, I see mails sent through post as extra special. They are like a true and unconditional love, because they're rare. 

Like a mother's love for her children. Nothing compares to that. Everyone agrees with me on that, yes? A mother can give up and at the same time, do everything for her children. A woman who has children and cannot do that for them is not a mother. What's she called? I don't know. Because motherhood is not a stage, not a phase. It is lifetime responsibility and opportunity. And for that I feel pride in being a mother. I feel blessed to have been given this chance to celebrate motherhood.

Weekends + The Avengers

How did your week go my dearies? It's weekend. But my weekend was over yesterday. Today is the first day of my week. You see, I work in a call center. Work days and hours are different. "My" week starts on a Saturday and ends on a Wednesday. "My" weekends fall on Thursdays and Fridays. Or shall I say, "used to"? Starting next week until end of June, I will have normal weekends on Saturdays and Sundays. Isn't that exciting? Yay!!!

What did I do during the weekend? Calli is back from Pangasinan. As I've already mentioned before, Elmer went on a quick break with the girls and left me (I had work during the holiday) here in Baguio with our yaya. He went yaya-less. Anlakas ng loob! But he managed (and he managed very well ha) so I give him a round of applause for that. I missed Calli so much. So she and I played and cuddled and sometimes fought. Before coming back from Pangasinan to Baguio, Elmer and Calli brought Nikki to Nueva Ecija. Nikki has moved from Pangasinan to Nueva Ecija for the second part of her vacation. You know, it's still school vacation here in the Philippines. Oh, how I love to be her right now. *Sigh* And I love how my daughters are very much acquainted to traveling and commuting. Sanay na sanay na sila. They started traveling and commuting early.

Yesterday, Elmer and I, just the two of us, went out on a date. We've finally seen The Avengers. The non-3D screening before the last for the day was at 6:30PM. The one for the 3D was at 5:30PM. We were already at SM City Baguio at around 4:30PM. We didn't want to do some shopping, or even window shopping, because of the thick crowd that came and went to the stores. Super Sale kasi. Nakakainit ng ulo lang makipagsiksikan. We didn't want to wait and do nothing for 2 hours so we decided to see the movie at the earlier screening time in 3D. Plus the fact that Elmer still had to go to work at 11PM, I also had to go to bed early because I had work at 4AM today.
