Taste Buds At Work: Puno's Cheese Cashew Macapuno Ice Cream And Langka Cheese Cashew Ice Cream

I don't remember exactly when I first learned about this Puno's Ice Cream. I think it was about a year ago from my Sisterful Vian when I was visiting. She mentioned to me how sarap daw talaga this ice cream. That it was incomparable to some commercially known ice cream brands. Of course whose curiosity naman wouldn't be tickled upon hearing that, davah?

But at that time, Mr. (or Mrs. maybe) Puno still had to put up an outlet in Guimba. Closest outlet from Guimba that Vian could think of was in Talavera - two towns and maybe around 30-minute drive away from ours. We dismissed the idea.

Whenever there was a party in the house, we always ordered dirty ice cream from someone who was Muder's suki and family friend. The last time we visited Guimba for Muder's birthday, I couldn't be happier because there's already a Puno's Ice Cream outlet there. Yay!!! So this time, we had Puno's Ice Cream for a change.

I sent Vian and Jerico to buy "enough" ice cream so bahala na sila kung gaano karami. She told me that its price was much cheaper than usual ice cream brands so I handed her P1,000. Sorry guys if I cannot tell you the exact price or even just an estimate price for each because when they arrived from the store, we became too busy with the preparation for the party that afternoon and I forgot about my change na. Surely, I'd spent P1,000 for a 1.9L, a 3.8L, an 80mL ice cream plus Vian's service fee. Haha!

This is how the container looks like.

I thought it tasted like something really, really familiar to me. After so many scoops of it, that's when I finally figured out what it was. It tasted like halo-halo maybe because of the langka in it. Hansarap!
Because I was too busy that day, I didn't have the chance to take a photo of the 3.8L container of this Cheese Cashew Macapuno. But this is how the actual ice cream looks like.

But it looks like this 80mL container. Syempre mas malaki nga lang ang 3.8L. Opkors!

I asked Vian to buy me at least isang maliit na size para bago pa buksan ang mga malalaking containers during the party, matikman ko na. Yes, excited lang talaga. So she bought me this one 80mL size.

Its look wasn't appealing at all, I must say. But Vian wasn't exaggerating when she described to me before how it tasted. Hansarap nga! Very simple taste but really, really creamy. Plus, there was a generous amount of langka, macapuno and cashew in the flavors. I was so happy na may natira pa after the party. The following day, my Muder was so surprised to find me in the living room couch so early in the morning when everyone else was still asleep already eating ice cream while watching TV. Inunahan ko na talaga sila. ^_^

I asked Vian if Puno's Ice Cream was a product originally from Nueva Ecija or just a franchise or something like that. She didn't have any idea. So I researched more about it and found its Facebook Page.

From that page --

Puno’s Ice Cream and Sherbet is a well-known ice cream brand in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. The company was founded by Atanacio and Simeona Puno. They decided to put up the ice cream business to send their 9 children to school.

Puno’s Ice Cream and Sherbet has perfected the taste and quality of their products for the past five decades now, making it the premium Ice Cream Manufacturing Plant in the entire City of Cabanatuan. Thus far, Puno’s Ice Cream and Sherbet is known as the “makers of quality made-to-order ice cream and sherbet” in Cabanatuan City and is the established brand in the entire City.

I have no idea what Puno's Sherbet looks like. Even Vian couldn't describe. Basta may sabaw daw ng buko. Sana ibinili niya 'ko para may idea na ako ngayon. Hmp!

Oh, I remembered! Vian mentioned that the 80mL size ice cream was P12, pero tinawaran nila ng P10 para sumaktong P600 lahat ng binili nila. Hmmm...so dapat pala may sukli pa akong P400 huh! In fairness, mura nga siya talaga.

I look forward to tasting more of Puno's Ice Cream flavors. There's another reason na for me to visit Nueva Ecija more often. So when visiting or driving through Nueva Ecija, locate a store or an outlet of this Puno's Ice Cream and Sherbet and give it a try. Here's two of them:

Note: There may be a lot of other blogs out there that offer an extensive and more detailed review on the same topic as the above. Things I put here are just my two cents. I don't even consider this a review. Just a kwento on the experience per se. Enjoy! ^_^

Ciao! ♥
