Taste Buds At Work: Chowking's Chunky Beef Chow Pao

Eleven days ago (or was it just ten), I was beaming with joy when Muder brought me a new yaya. Yesterday, she already left. Today, I officially have no yaya again. Hindi ko na ii-stress ang sarili ko sa issue na 'yan. But lemme make that clear, hindi ako ang may problema. Sure na sure ako diyan. ^_^

After work, in the middle of Dindo's super heavy rain and strong winds, I had to drag Nikki and Calli with me to bring the ex-yaya to the van terminal. (Ayan. I'm starting to feel a li'l inis again. Ha!)

It was raining animals yesterday.  Before going back home, my kids and I sought warmth and found it right next to the van terminal along Chanum Street...Chowking!

Police station right across

There were only very, very few customers inside.

Calli

I ordered a chicken lauriat for Nikki because she's forever in love with fried chicken. Wherever we dine at, she orders fried chicken. For Calli, just an extra plate. Kasi sa kanya 'yung noodles ng lauriat ni Nikki. She's naman forver pancit lover. And for me, because I was not in the mood for a rice meal, I tried Chowking's newest product - Chow Pao.

Chow Pao is halved Chinese steamed buns (man tao) with sausage, chicken or beef, mixed vegetables and some special sauce. There are four different Chow Pao's to choose from - Chinese Sausage (P25), Chinese sausage Special (P35), Braised Chcken (P49) and Chunky Beef (P49).

I gave the Chunky Beef Chow Pao a try.

Letters C and K embossed on the man tao
Few pieces of julienned carrots and shredded cabbage,
very few pieces of beef and  sauce

The pieces of vegetables are crispy. I have to say the very few pieces of beef are very tender, but it could use a few more para "chunky" talaga. The sauce is more on the salty side to very salty. Overall, there's nothing spectacular about it.

In all fairness to Chowking, it is a great, if not unique, idea to give its man tao that I used to love ordering with congee a different twist.

Lastly, nabusog akoAs of this writing, I have yet to try the three other kinds.

Nikki, Calli and I stayed for a little while hoping that the rain would let up, but it never abated.

I could tell that Calli was already feeling sleepy so we took a cab and headed home.

Note: There may be a lot of other blogs out there that offer an extensive and more detailed review on the same topic as the above. Things I put here are just my two cents. I don't even consider this a review. Just a kwento on the experience per se. Enjoy! ^_^

Ciao! ♥
